Hotel Ullensvang is family owned, and has been since the establishing in 1846. Perhaps the most famous guest through all these years, is the composer Edvard Grieg. He came for the first time in 1878, and spent many summers, and one winter, in Lofthus. In Lofthus, he found the inspiration for music like “Springtime”, “The Holberg Suite” and “Peer Gynt Suite”.

Further east, the wild Eidfjord and Hardangervidda with Alpine-like scenery with large lakes and a diverse range of flora and fauna. There are many interesting villages such as Eidfjord,Ulvik, Ullensvang and Odda in Hardanger.
